Pool Table Recushioning Service
From $349 — K-66 Profile Rubber — All Brands — Call 770-601-8795
If your pool balls are dying on the cushions, bouncing erratically, or just not responding the way they should, your cushion rubber is likely worn out. Cushion rubber degrades over time — it dries out, hardens, and loses its elasticity regardless of how much the table is played. Most cushion rubber has a lifespan of 15–25 years under normal conditions.
Recushioning restores the lively, predictable response that makes pool enjoyable. It's one of the most impactful upgrades you can make to an older table, and it's far less expensive than buying a new one.
Signs Your Cushions Need Replacement
- Balls die or bounce short off the rails
- Cushion response feels inconsistent or unpredictable
- Visible cracking or hardening of the cushion rubber
- Balls "kick" or bounce at unusual angles
- The table is more than 15–20 years old and has never been recushioned
K-66 Profile Cushion Rubber
We use K-66 profile cushion rubber, the BCA (Billiard Congress of America) standard for regulation play. K-66 rubber provides the consistent, accurate response you'd expect from a well-maintained table in a pool hall or billiard club. It's a significant improvement over the original rubber on many older tables, which was often manufactured to lower specifications.
What Recushioning Includes
Our recushioning service covers all six rails. We remove the old rubber and cloth, install new K-66 profile rubber, reinstall and properly tension the new felt over the rails, and then remount and adjust all six rails on the table. The result is consistent cushion response across the entire playing surface.
Recushioning vs. New Rails
In most cases, recushioning the existing rails is the right approach — the wood rail itself is typically fine, and only the rubber needs replacement. In rare cases where the rail wood is warped or damaged, new rails may be necessary. We'll assess your specific situation and give you an honest recommendation.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does pool table recushioning cost?
Pool table recushioning starts at $349 at Metro Billiards Service. This includes removal of the old cushion rubber, installation of new K-66 profile rubber on all six rails, and refelting of the rails.
How do I know if my pool table cushions need replacing?
The most common signs are balls dying on contact with the cushion instead of rebounding, erratic bounces that don't match where the ball hits, or a dead thud sound instead of a crisp response. Cushion rubber typically lasts 15-25 years but degrades faster in dry or climate-controlled environments.
What is K-66 cushion rubber?
K-66 is the standard profile for American pool table cushions, used on virtually all home and commercial tables. It provides a consistent, lively rebound and is the specification used on BCA-approved tournament tables. We install K-66 profile rubber on all recushioning jobs.
